For a short time now I've been unsure about the path that I am taking, unsure if what I'm doing will actually lead me to where I want to go and the people that I want to be with. Then I watched something that made me realize that doing things that are in my heart are much more important than making money or getting a degree in order to make more money. All the things I was doing in my life may look small now, but God is watching, and He is pleased. Zechariah 4:10 says "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” This is in reference to the temple being built, it also says "This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 7 Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: ‘May God bless it! May God bless it!" (v6-7) God will make level paths before me and will cause many people to bless my works because I am a daughter of God, a temple to his Holy Spirit. The same is for any of those who know Jesus and have been born again through his blood. (1 Corinthians 3:16)
How does this relate to harps? I was thinking about being too afraid to tune a string because it might pop. But you have to tighten the string to get it in tune. Don't be afraid of the pressures your dream might lead you into, they might be what you need in order to sing your song, and God will always lead you and protect who you are.

Spiraling Up on Harp Strings
Did you know that God likes to create things in circles? He made the
solar systems, the planets, the stars round...He made the color wheel
and music full of circles: the circle of fifths, music notes (CDEFGAB
repeated over and over), and choruses.... Sometimes if you find yourself
going around and around it's not because you're in the same place but
because you're climbing around the mountain and the view just looks the
same again. Be encouraged and empowered that you can accomplish all
things in Jesus (Philippians 4:13).
When I play the harp, I like to think of the notes as an upward spiral, taking me into
realms of light and song. In this weeks video I am giving you some more
practical tips, but I encourage you to start imagining sounds that you
would like to play with those fast fingers of yours! Have fun harpers!

How to Play the Harp
If you've ever found yourself thinking, "gosh I'd love to pick up an instrument, but I don't have the money to go to lessons", or "gosh I'd love to learn the harp....but who would I learn from" then here is the solution. I am here to blog about and show you how to play this marvelous instrument, lose your fear, and get out there to share your sound with the world. In this first video, I explain how to hold the harp, correct finger technique, and a great way to approach the harp with absolutely NO experience. I believe in you, so let's go, go, go and make your dreams happen! Feel free to comment with your personal love for the instrument or with questions!
